Delivering Quality Programs
Quality out-of-school time programs are reliant on two key ingredients: quality programming with specific outcomes and highly qualified staff who are well-trained and actively engaged in the process of creating quality programs. These modules are designed to give staff the knowledge and tools to plan balanced and integrated programs, help children and youth make meaning out of what they are participating in and layer learning with opportunities for participants to reflect on what they have learned.
Supporting Academic Programming
Knowledge of the content in the curriculum frameworks and the academic content standards being used in schools helps staff plan appropriately to provide related academic opportunities and support school day learning. These modules focus on providing activities and opportunities for intentional learning, which can enhance in a fun way the concepts and skills in the frameworks that the children and youth learn during the school day.
Serving Older Youth
Older youth are learning to become more independent and are looking for opportunities to experience their autonomy. This module is designed to give staff the knowledge and tools to effectively offer older youth engaging, enriching, relevant, and developmentally appropriate opportunities
Energenius® OST Program Training Series
Energenius® Out of School Time Program training modules were created through a partnership between PG&E and CalSAC. It is designed to engage children and youth to think about how they use energy, how energy is measured, paid for, and ways to save energy.
NPASS
NPASS (National Partnership for Afterschool Science) trains out-of-school time staff to lead high quality hands-on STEM projects with youth. No science background is required, just the courage and patience to learn new skills! NPASS Institutes and workshops combine principles of youth development with best practices for hands-on learning to create exciting science and engineering experiences for students.
