Designing High-Impact Tutoring Programs for OST

This module supports participants in exploring the core components of High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) and how to design or redesign the OST program environment to be conducive to HIT.

In this training participants will:

  • Review key concepts from Module 1.5.3: Understanding High-Impact Tutoring

  • Explore strategies for adapting the essential components of High-Impact Tutoring to the OST program setting.

  • Begin an action plan and needs assessment to support implementation of HIT.

Content Overview:

Reviewing Key Concepts

Participants will explore the current state of educational inequity and barriers to academic success in the communities most often served by OST programs.

Resource Assessment for Core Components

Participants will review the 7 core components of a High-impact tutoring program and will assess where resources currently exist and where resources would be needed.

Core Component Deep Dive: “High-Quality Materials” and “Integrated with Core Academics”

Participants will look closely at these two core components to determine strategies and resources to support implementation and operationalization.

Core Component Deep Dive: “Data-Informed and Data-Driven Personalization”

Participants will look closely at this core component to determine strategies and resources to support implementation and operationalization.

Core Component Deep Dive: “Well-Trained, Supported Tutors”

Participants will look closely at this core component to determine strategies and resources to support implementation and operationalization.

Action Plan Review and Next Steps

Participants will learn and share concrete ideas for holding themselves responsible for putting their ideas into action at their programs.
