This training will provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent unwanted behavior by meeting the physical and social-emotional needs of children and youth before they act out.
This training will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to be able to problem solve behavior concerns in their program, and help children and youth gain skills to solve problems.
To gain greater confidence in guiding behavior, staff must look at their personal actions and reactions to the behaviors of the children and youth with whom they work. This helps build social-emotional skills in both staff and children and youth.
Participants will gain skills for effective supervision of children/ youth by examining expected outcomes of working with children/youth, using tools for communicating expectations and applying techniques for dealing with problem behaviors.
During this training, participants will discuss the challenges of children and youth with disruptive behavior and learn strategies for effectively addressing these behaviors.
During this training, participants will gain understanding of a child/youth’s temperament by exploring philosophies on how to build self-management, self-awareness, foster friendships, develop social awareness and interpersonal skills, make developmentally-appropriate choices, understand natural/logical consequences, and to help them take responsibility for behaviors.
