This training will give participants an understanding of the importance of working with children/youth to develop interpersonal skills, social awareness and teach them practical strategies for supporting this development. 

During this training, participants will discuss what it means to be professional in the world of afterschool and learn how to support the families of the children and youth that they serve.

During this training, participants will develop strategies for observing children/youth and how to use those observations to understand behavior and develop appropriate programming.

During this training, participants will learn the importance of meeting the social-emotional and developmental needs of children and youth, and strategies to make sure that their needs are being met.

During this training, participants will deepen their understanding of physical, cognitive, and social-emotional developmental trends and how to determine whether activities are developmentally appropriate for different age groups.
