  • We are the largest provider of before and after school care in the San Diego Unified School District (48 schools). We also provide on site before and after licensed care on an additional 10 sites, including infant and toddler care.

  • We provide juvenile diversion services in Mira Mesa, East County and Southeast San Diego.

  • We provide parent, child and family counseling in Mira Mesa and the East County.

  • We provide Parent Partner services in the Southeast San Diego area.

Description

Opportunities for a combination of AM/PM Shifts are available at Elementary Schools in the San Diego County area!

  • Hours: Part time, 0 - 34 hours per week; Monday-Friday, shift are AM and PM and varies by site

  • Salary: $13.56 per hour (rate increase!) (all new hires begin at starting salary regardless of experience);

  • Leave accrued at 1 hour per 30 hours worked with a maximum accrual of 80 hours per calendar year.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

This position ensures the safety, security, and well-being of the children enrolled in the program. Implementation of homework assistance, arts and craft/special activities, recreation and supervision of children are primary responsibilities. Youth Program Leaders are responsible for supporting the healthy social/emotional development of children enrolled in the program in line with Early Childhood Development best practices. This includes using behavioral reinforcement programs, behavioral strategies to address problematic behavior, and strength-based approaches..

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Competencies

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Possess Community Care Licensing qualifications for child care counselor, Section 101315, including at least 9 units and currently enroll in at least 3 unites in early education, child, growth and development, recreation, humanities, or education including college work-study, volunteer or internship.

  • Must have a minimum of 6 months experience working, volunteering and/or interning with school-aged children programs such as day cares recreation programs and social service agencies.

  • Reliable automobile, valid CA Driver’s license and maintain proof of current automobile insurance.

  • Valid Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification required

  • Ability to relate well to children and adults

  • Valid TB results required

  • Pass Livescan Fingerprint Clearance upon hire (paid by Harmonium)

  • Proof of immunization against influenza, pertussis and measles or qualifies for an exemption from one of the following (new hires and existing staff receive reimbursement up to $10 for proof)

    • A determination by licensed physician, in writing, that immunization i not safe because of their physical condition or medical circumstances.

    • A determination by a licensed physician, in writing, that they have evident of current immunity.

    • In regard to influenza vaccine, only a signed declaration that they have decline the vaccine.
