Husky House Children's Center is committed to supporting the individual growth of the whole child. Through connection and collaboration we nurture the development of responsible, independent, creative and thoughtful citizens.

Husky House is a nonprofit, year-round, enrichment program that has served the Lamorinda community for almost 30 years. We operate before- and after-school on-site at an elementary school in Lafayette. During the summer we run a summer, day-camp on-site.

You will work with children ages 5-12 on an elementary school campus in a warm, friendly environment. We stress creative and social development. One of our primary goals is to develop strong social skills and a sense of community in a nurturing and safe setting.

HOURS & COMPENSATION
We are currently looking for Monday through Friday, 2:00-6:15, with the opportunity to move to a full-time position and potential for growth. More hours are available during our summer program. Our starting pay is $16-$20 depending on experience and education. Pay rate may increase after the initial 90-day probationary period.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop intentional indoor and outdoor lesson planning

  • Must be able to stand a few hours at a time

  • Visually supervise children and actively engage with them

  • Help in upkeep and organization of center

  • Work cooperatively with peers

  • Maintain a positive attitude and reliability

  • Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to learn

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6 units of child development or education

  • Additional 6 units in sociology, psychology, health ed... (other coursework may be acceptable)

  • We will accept applicants who have 6 units but are enrolled for an additional 6 in the coming academic semester

Not required at time of interview, but before employment, applicants must be able to provide documentation to meet California Community Care Licensing requirements which include:

  • Ability to pass clearance through the Department of Justice

  • Proof of vaccination for measles and pertussis

  • Physician's pre-employment health screening and negative TB test.
