Current Projects
Afterschool for All Technical Assistance (AFA TAC) : A coordinated city-wide model of technical assistance to support afterschool
programs and develop a workforce of prepared, committed,
stable, and supported professionals.
Alameda County School-Age Professional Development Project:
A program in which CalSAC allocates AB212 funding to state-subsidized (Title 5) school-age sites in Alameda County to implement professional
development plans for their staff.
Afterschool Workforce Development:
A variety of programs aimed at increasing the pipeline
of qualified part-time, entry-level workers into the afterschool field, as well as
providing the support these new workers will need
to succeed on the job.
Afterschool Challenge:
An annual advocacy event, designed by CalSAC, in which
over 200
afterschool professionals and youth gather in Sacramento
to share with
legislators the benefits of the afterschool and school-age care field,
highlight the successes of Prop 49, and to advocate against cuts to
afterschool programs and school-age care.
CalSAC Trainer Network: A network which builds the training and facilitation
skills of leaders in the field who, in turn, provide
training to afterschool program staff, volunteers and
administrators working in a variety of programs across
the state. The CalSAC Trainer Network includes 120 Trainers, a new and improved training curriculum with
over
60 modules to choose from in over a dozen topic areas,
regional mentor and outreach project leaders who support
our trainers in conducting high quality training events
and reach out to underserved communities, and an annual
Training of the Trainer Institute, where
new leaders in the field can join the Network.

Past Projects
4Quality: A CalSAC-led program which focued on effectively improving the
quality of afterschool programs for children and youth
throughout a community. In Santa Clara County, where
the first California 4Quality initiative took place, the project helped develop
a unique collaboration of diverse afterschool program
providers, who continue to work together on training,
technical assistance, public awareness, and networking
activities several years after the program's inception.
Youth Opportunities Collaborative:
A network of South Santa Clara County violence prevention
stakeholders (including afterschool programs, community organizations,
juvenile justice, health, and social work programs,
parents and youth) designed to identify sustainable strategies to curb
youth violence and promote youth development.
